Great Cpu

Strengths: Can Overclock at great speeds.

Weakness: No cpu cooler.

I paired this with a Gigabyte GA-m61p-s3 and worked great. Couldnt be more pleased for the price. AMD does it again!!! I would recommend getting a top notch cooler for this, i always go with Zalman. I use Zalman 9500.

Good value and performance when overclocked.

Installed easily and good overclocker. Overclocked to 3.20GHz @ 1.4v with a 16x multiplier. Can be overclocked to 3.30GHz @ 1.45v with a 16.5x multiplier but preferred not to push it to the limit. Running it with a cooler master hyper tx universal cooler. Overall CPU temp runs at 38 celsius with core #1 at 20 celsius and core #2 at 30 celsius. At the time of purchase I was able to get pretty close to the performance of a 6400+ for $70 less and with a chip that uses the 65nm manufacturing process and uses 65w. A nice boost in performance after upgrading from an old, slow 3500+ single core.

Great processor for the money.

I wanted a new AMD processor. I was looking to get an Athlon 64 X2 4800 when I saw that AMD had just introduced the 5000 Black Edition with an unlocked multiplier to allow easy overclocking, I decided the Black Edition was the one I was going to purchase. I had to purchase a CPU heatsink and fan and I found a good deal with rebate at a online retailer. After assembling the processor and heatsink, I booted my system at stock speed with no problems. I then rebooted and enter the BIOS and changed the multiplier from 13 to 15. Upon reboot I now had a processor running at 3.0Ghz with no other changes or tweeks to my system or BIOS. I highly recommended this processor, great bang for the buck.

Excellent Processor, worth the upgrade.

Strengths: Unlocked Multiplier Low Power Cool operating temps Very Fast (6400+) No need to OC memory etc. No useless fan

Weakness: Make sure your motherboard can support this Not worth it if you do not plan to OC

I purchased this as an upgrade to a 4600+, while I could sell the 4600+ on EBAY. This is a welcome improvement, and runs at 3000Hz on stock voltage at 40C under load. It takes a little more to hit 3200Hz (My Motherboard only goes to 1.35V, and it runs fine at 3200Hz, but will error on Prime95 tests. If I could get to 1.4V it would probably run fine. Crystal CPU allows me to do 15.5 multiplier, which is 3100 Hz, and it was stable at 1.35V. This processor has been running in my vista system for about 2 weeks without a single crash/lockup, playing lots of games (Vista Ultimate). Remember to turn off Cool'n'Quiet in bios, or vista will reset it to stock multiplier. Toms hardware has a great review. It falls inbetween a 6000+ and the 6400+ for much lower power and less $$
