The Devil May Cry 4 concept is very similar to previous versions in the DMC series. You play as a dude with demonic powers, beat up demons that have a taste for your blood using crazy moves and play through a story that is not much more than a way to split up the action rather than a an engaging story that pulls you in. Basically you run around, solve simple puzzles and beat up demons.

However, the graphics and cut scenes are very well done and they look very nice.

Overall, a pretty average game - it's not a horrible game but it's not a great game either.

It could've been better!

Strengths: In game and CG movies graphics. Similar game-play mechanics you loved and hated.

Weakness: The main story of the game revolves around a new character rather than Dante!

Although graphics made huge jump from the past games of the series but not good enough! I'm really disappointed with what Capcom has done to ruin the series. Unless you are like a hardcore fan of the series, rent it.

Fantastic Hack-And-Slash

Strengths: Gorgeous Visuals, Rocking Surround Sound Music, A Tiny Faster Loading Time Than 360 Version (Thanks To Mandatory HDD Install), Rumbles with Dual Shock 3

DMC4 is the first installment of the Devil May Cry series for next-gen (well, now this-gen) consoles. It delivers the DMC-experience in spades. Not only are the visuals absolutely breathtaking, but the cut-scenes (which are done in real-time), flow seamlessly among battles making the whole gaming experience something out of a Hollywood cinema.

While I do regret that the PS3 version requires a 5GB install, if you have the 80GB PS3 or simply upgrade the system yourself with a third-party HDD - space shouldn't be much of an issue. On the plus side of this annoying requirement, it does load a bit faster than the 360 version - which has to stream everything from the DVD.

In terms of graphical comparison between the two consoles, it's pretty much a stalemate as Capcom was able to pull off spectacular visuals on both hardware systems - so you don't need to figure out which one is the "superior" gaming experience.

With that being said, I prefer the Dual-Shock 3 controller more for a DMC-game (as with the PS2-versions), so I actually consider the PS3 version a plus. On top of that, this game works with the new Dual-Shock 3 controller rumble feature (which is a MUST-HAVE feature for the true DMC gaming experience.)

One of the best action games on PS3

The Devil May Cry series has been one of my favorite action game series on PS2. This fourth entry in the series doesn't let down. It doesn't stray too far from the well established formula. You gain new weapons and abilities as you progress through the game. As you expand your arsenals and combos, you learn to appreciate the many different ways to destroy your enemies.
The HD graphics is something to behold on a big screen HDTV. The background architectures are very sharp. The improved visual over the past games in the series can be felt immediately, even though some of the character models are not the best by today's standard. And if your PS3 is hooked up to the TV via HDMI, you may even be able to improve the contrast slightly more by turning on the RGB Full Range and Super-White from PS3's XMB --> Settings --> Display Settings.
The cut scenes are full of crazy wire-fu-like acrobatic action sequences, just like in DMC3. They are always entertaining to watch.
You start out the game with the new character Nero, but you also gain control of the original main character Dante later in the game.
The gameplay hasn't improved much from DMC3, which may not be a bad thing considering DMC3 being a very good game. But since DMC3 was leaps and bounds past DMC2, I was hoping this DMC4 would have been much improved over DMC3 too. Too bad that wasn't the case, at least in the gameplay department. There are also some backtracking. The occasional running around in enemy-less areas can be a little tedious.
Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. It made me even a more loyal fan of the DMC series.

Devil does cry.

Strengths: Great cutscenes and pacing, character sdesigns.

Weakness: A 2002 game spruced up for 2008.

DMC4 is a technically impressive game wih a huge flaw. Its gameplay. The game looks great, has some great monster dsigns, responsive controls. The problem is the game play seems to have stood still while other better games have come out like GoW. When there's a DMC4, it'll need a gameplay upgrade or it may get left behind.
