Even though there are a few cons to this mouse, this is the best mouse I have ever used and was definitely worth the fifty dollars I payed for it. I switched to this mouse from a Razer Diamondback, which breaks easily, and it took me about a week to adjust to the curve of the mouse, but when I did, it definitely felt more natural in my hand and my movements felt more precise in game. It provides excellent tracking and its wheel is also very good because it has small indents in it so that you can move exactly one notch every time when you need to. However, for some mouse pads you might have to buy extra Teflon feet due to the slightly curved bottom. However, if you get past that you'll love this mouse whether you're a gamer or just use it for image design and office applications. I highly recommend this product and it was worth every penny.

Great Mouse, Might Cause Problems if you Share a PC w/ non gamers

Strengths: Precision, Comfort, Design, Customizability, Works like a standard mouse under linux (plus glowing razer logo)

Weakness: Upgrade the Firmware to once you purchase; default firmware can cause problems with some games! No advanced settings or profile support is available under Linux.

I bought this mouse in advance of a new PC I'm saving up for. I wanted to have a decent gaming mouse. I have no prior expirence with gaming mice and am a moderate PC gamer.

First Impressions:
Right out of the box this mouse looks sweet. Once it's plugged in to a PC the scroll wheel starts lights up and the Razer logo fades in and out. It has a very good ergonomic design that feels very comfortable. The Teflon feet slide very well on any surface, no mousepad is required for smooth operation.

Performance:
Right off the bat it seemed kind of awkward using it. The mouse was overly sensitive and I would often accidentally close windows when I tried to maximize them. I popped in the CD and installed Razer's proprietary driver software.

I was able to bump down the DPI one notch and it worked fine. However, this was still too sensitive for others in my family. There is a profile switching button on the bottom of the mouse to switch between settings. This allowed my family to operate it at a comfortable setting while I could bump it up when I was playing games.

Gaming Test:
I tested this mouse with Battle Front: II. It didn't feel quite right and I didn't notice any advantage over a standard mouse. Whenever I clicked the middle mouse button to use my scope, the mouse would behave erratically and have me aim at the ground. This was a dealbreaker for me. I googled for about half an hour looking for a solution to this problem. I came up with nothing.

Seeing a driver update was available on Razer's website [www.razerzone.com...], I proceeded to upgrade the driver and the mouse's firmware (yes, this mouse does have its own firmware). This fixed all problems with erratic movement and made general control feel better.

Overall:
If this mouse had a few more buttons (the death adder has only 5: standard left/right, middle scroll, and two on the side) and the default firmware/drivers worked better, I would give this mouse a 5/5. The firmware can obviously be fixed, so if the 5 button design doesn't bother you, I'd recommend you pick up this mouse.

The DeathAdder is one of the newer additions to the Razer lineup. It also continues Razer's current trend of making right-handed mice.

The mouse is sensitive, as expected, and the configuration options for it is good, as is typical of Razer. Some people complain that the dedicated profile button is hard to reach (it's under the mouse), but I don't have issues with it since I rarely switch profiles mid-game. The software allows you to assign another more accessible button to profile switching. However, I don't see why Razer couldn't have put the profile switch button in a more accessible location.

I am having problems with erratic performance. The mouse seems to go to sleep and takes a while to resume functioning. Also, occasionally, I get random button clicks when moving quickly. I'm still trying to determine if this is a bad interaction with my KVM or a Razer issue.

So far, I have no regrets though. I'd recommend this mouse.

Let me start of by saying that I'm a gamer. One that doesn't care for a ton of buttons on my mouse. I'm a minority, I know. I've owned them, but I hardly ever use them all. That's what a keyboard is for, right?
This is my favorite mouse, ever. I've been a dedicated Logitech mouse user for 10 years now. I've tried others, but I usually end up not liking them, mainly because Logitech made a superior mouse. The Razer DeathAdder has made me a convert.
I've known of Razer's mice since the company first released the Boomslang. I just never liked them after the Boomslang. My problem is I like larger mice. Mice with wide bodies that fit well in the palm of my hand. This mouse has perfect countours for me. It also has a sort of rubbery surface on top. It seems slicker than the plastic on the sides. I've never had a problem with it, and it feels SO good.
The Teflon feet make the mouse glide along nearly any surface with absolute ease.
The mouse is optical but provides very fast and accurate tracking on most surfaces. The included software makes it a snap to set up different profiles that you can use for different games and software.
One of the nicest things about the Razer mice is that you can pretty much push anywhere on the left and right mouse buttons and it will register the click with no problem, even on the edges.
What else can you say about a mouse?
The DeathAdder makes the pointer go where I want it to go, as slow or as fast as I want with no on-screen stutter.
I did have an issue or 2 with this mouse. After about 3 weeks of use the mouse wheel started to squeak every time I used it. It sounded like a straw moving in a plastic lid. Also, the bottom of the mouse got scraped up pretty bad from using it on a FLAT surface. For some reason, the bottom is slightly uneven. It seems that this is/was an issue with this mouse. Luckily, Razer replaced it with no problem, other than stocking issues(It's a popular mouse and they sell out of inventory pretty quick). I have used my new one for 3 weeks now and am happy to report there's no squeak with this one and the bottom is as shiny as the day I took it out of the box. So maybe the uneven issue has been fixed with the latest batch of mice. Even so, I'm still glad I bought the DeathAdder.

Nice mouse but expensive

Strengths: very fast response time

Weakness: No driver for ps2 connector

I have this mouse shared on two machines with a switch. But the driver does not support the mouse in ps2 mode only usb mode. Had to get a usb convertor to make it work. It is kind of an expensive mouse considering the alternative mice that are available.
