Solid memory, bad rebates!

Strengths: Fast memory, able to overclock further. SLI approved.

Weakness: I got hosed by the rebate process and wasted time and money. (See update below)

On the bad side, I had bought this memory specifically because of a $40 rebate. It made it cheaper than other PC-8500 RAM. Well, I filled everything out and sent it in, but I got denied because I bought it from a "non approved" reseller. The beef I have with this is that I got it from the first authorized reseller on OCZ's own website (ATACOM.COM). I called OCZ but they would not budge because they said Atacom didn't participate in the rebate. Well how was I supposed to know this? It wasn't printed anywhere on the rebate form. Oh well. Now the new rebate form says, "Eligible products must be purchased from an Authorized Reseller that is a National Rebate Participant." Good luck trying to figure out who is and who isn't participating.

UPDATE: 8/1/07 - I got nowhere with the people in the rebate department, so out of desperation I wrote a letter to the President and CEO of OCZ. Within a month or so I got a call from the rebate center and got my check. So it did work out in the end for me, but it was a bit of a hassle. I raised my rating to 3 stars.

Sweet Ram for a super gaming rig

Strengths: Very overclockable and very fast. Easy to work with. Looks nice also.

Weakness: Price, but pretty good after rebate.

The ram looks nice with the heat spreaders and it works great in the Striker Extreme. I went with this ram because it was one of the fastest and on sale for a good price after rebate although it was not listed for the Striker. I added the ram and their was no problem, all 4GB. It is very fast and easily overclockable.

I now have a pretty sweet rig: Striker Extreme, E6600, 8800 Ultra 2X overclocked, dual 74GB Raptors Raid, + more. Can't wait to upgrade processor in a few months and overclock somemore:)

OCZ PC2-8500 SLI Memory

Strengths: Very fast, overclockable, and cool looking

Weakness: Price?

This memory is wonderful. It works at 1066Mhz, very easily overclocked, and has life-time warranty. What can we say more? I highly recommend this memory to people who play games.

Strengths: Nvidia SLI certification, SPD with EPP support. D9GMH microns

Weakness: OCZ rebates

Micron D9GMH with a lot of headroom for overclocking.
5-5-5-15, 1066 MHz. EPP feature saves time in setup. Can definitely reach 1066 MHz speeds at 5-5-5-12, 800MHz at 4-4-4-12, possible 1200 MHZ with relaxed timings. Good value for features if rebates go though.
