Great Hardware, but a Serial key?? Come ON!!!

Strengths: Excellent Color calibration

Weakness: Asks for a software key!!! What???

I cannot find my key, so I have to resort to looking for cracks, etc. Folks, we BOUGHT THE HARDWARE! Why in the hell do I have to have a "special" key??? Give us a break! the software is Worthless without the Spyder hardware! WTF??
FIRE the IDIOT who decided the software needed a key.

Can you tell that this aggravates me?

Strengths: very good tool for anyone who processes graphics or use multiple computers at the same time

Weakness: doesn't record ambient light continuously like others, included printer calibration software too simple

if consistant color is what you want (and obviously it is, if you're willing to spend this much on a calibrator), the spyder family is a very good package for your needs. the spyder 2 is still a very good tool for anyone who needs the basics of color calibrating their screens. i've used this on my desktop lcd, 3 laptops, and a dual monitor setup at work and have very positive results - i was tired of seeing a picture on one screen and looking at almost a completely different picture (color-wise) on the other. even the default windows landscape varied so much from each. not anymore. most of the weaknesses of this version were addressed in the spyder 3, so if you can afford the extra money, i'd imagine the latest version is probably worth the investment at this point. bottom line, if consistancy is important the spyders will do a very good job getting you there.

This product does an excellent job of calibrating monitors; much better than doing it by eye, or with AVIA or DVD Essentials. If you have more than one screen to calibrate, it is also much cheaper than hiring a professional. This product does an excellent job of calibrating monitors; much better than doing it by eye, or with AVIA or DVD Essentials. If you have more than one screen to calibrate, it is also much cheaper than hiring a professional. However, and no manual is included, and you need to be able to connect your monitor to computer running the software; it will not work on an older TV set without computer hook-up.

Sensor takes a while to take readings of different images produced by the software: do not start this process unless you have 20-30 minutes to complete it.

Weakness: their tech support is not the greatest

I was told I need the Spyder2 Pro because I have two monitors. Fine. But what I wasn't told by their tech support is the Spyder2 Pro works with two monitors ONLY if you have two separate video cards.

Their tech support is weak and their online support and manual are very outdated. This is the only downside. If you don't need support, the product seems okay. If you are the type who needs assistance, I would look elsewhere.

Strengths: Acuracy, can be used for CRT, LCD and projector, can be mounted on a tripod.

Weakness: A little bit over detailed calibration for beginers. Need to input "serial number" to install a hardware?
