Strengths: sharp, well built, H-IS

Review: This is my first L lens...construction is great. compared to my 17-55 where the zoom ring rocks...the focus ring on the 100mm macro is rock solid. I've only tried hand-held macro shots and they've turned out very well.

Review: As with all nikon pro glass the construction build is of great quality. It is durable and easy to handle. The lens zooms really smoothly. Lens is extremely sharp especially in the center focus areas. The bokeh is wonderful at the wide apertures. The only true negative as usual, is the high price, almost twice more expensive than its Canon counterpart.

An expensive lens with really good quality

Strengths: Can take very good portraits. Color is very rich and bright.

Weaknesses: Price is too high. Get fuzzy pictures easily in a slightly dark place.(no feature of stabilizer)

Review: It is definitely an excellent lens. Sometimes I encounter back focus problem and I guess it is because the focus spot is too dark. Other than that, the color is incredibly bright and rich. No post-processing required.

Review: I had been looking for several months for a good marco lens for my digital rebel. After trying several marco lenses (sigma 105mm, tamron 90mm, and canon 100mm), this lens turn out to be the sharpest of all and AF is very fast compare with others. If you are interested in taking super sharp macro picture, this is the lens for you. By the way, you can use this lens as a normal 100mm lens also.

Review: I just got the lens on April 24, 06. It is heavy. Especial when you attach it on 5D with 580EX. I can't hold them all with one hand over one minute. I must use two hand to control them. The IS function is amazing, it really works. Now I only have taken photo indoor because of the weather.I think the lens is great for any purpose.

Review: Top quality at a reasonable price. I use this with a Canon D60 EOS Digital camera and results are professional in quality. Would be nice to have image stabilization and a 2.8 vs a 4 but these come at a high cost. If you can live with F4 then this is the lens to buy in the 70-200mm range! With the 1.6 ratio of the D60 it turns into a 112-320mm lens.

Review: I would recommend NOT using a filter on this lens. I know, I know, but with a macro, you have ultra-sensitive focus points. If you're outside, this is a GREAT lens!!
